“Spicy” – a name that says so much about me! I hate spicy food, I have been on so many steroids in the past year due to MS that I feel like my stomach has suffered an ulcer the size of Mars, spicy food is out of the question! My attitude; I’m a go getter who chases what I want in life. Some love me and others find my spicy attitude exhausting, either way – I remain spicy. What helps spicy food? My favourite drink – MILK!
I live in the beautiful city of Saskatoon, the city of bridges. My journey with MS began during my 2nd year of university, and what a journey it’s been! I was 20 years old at the time and am now celebrating my 27th birthday this July – I can’t believe it’s been 7 years and I still remember everything like it was yesterday. I can still feel the frustration, the sensitivity in my eyes, the scars on my hands from my IV’s, and the taste of medicine that would linger in my mouth for hours.
What was once known as the scariest thing to happen to me has now become one of the best things to touch my life. FINALLY after 7 years, I am starting to understand this illness and learn what my body wants and needs. There are days I feel like I’m looking after a 15-year-old teenager, but nope – it’s just me. I have to make myself go to bed when I’m tired, I have to eat right, stay active, and control my mood swings and stop placing so much blame on my own body for how things turned out.
